Walkersville Loses One of its Cornerstones of Duckpin Bowling

David 'Reds' Main

Mr. David Wade "Reds" Main, 60, of Walkersville, Maryland, passed away due to heart failure on Friday, September 2, 2011, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born in Kemptown on December 9, 1950, he was a son of Clyde David Main, of Frederick and the late Frances J. Summers Main. He was step son of Janet Main. Reds graduated from Linganore High School Class of 1968. Served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Working for many years as an auto mechanic, electrician and in construction. Most recently he was the manager of the Walkersville Bowling Alley. He was a member of the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, and was a founding member and secretary of the Golden Gears Car Club. He enjoyed being involved in car shows, and building hot rods with his brother Mark and friends.

Surviving in addition to his father and step mother, is a brother, Mark L. Main and wife Jenni, of Middletown, three sisters, Juanita L. Thompson and husband Paul, of Bowie, Kay M. Oliver and husband Terry, and Julie L. Main and Hal, all of Frederick, step sister, Pamela S. Barnes, of Woodsboro, and a step son, Bobby Wilhide, of Funkstown, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by a brother-in-law, Kerry D. Trout, of Frederick and sister-in-law, Pam Main, of Mt. Airy. He was preceded in death by a brother, Chris A. Main and a sister, Ramona I. Trout.
